The Legend of Rawa Pening

Every tourist spot usually has a past history or legend. Even more so if it is a natural tourist spot.
Well for Dizzy Swampsome local residents believe that there used to be a village called Malwapati Village.
Malwapati village is inhabited by quite a lot of people.
Including a man named Baru Klintang who is believed by local residents to have magical magic.
In his story, it is said that in the past Baru Klintang was treated badly by the villagers just because he had a different body shape and smelled bad.
Not accepting the behavior of the villagers, Baru Klintang held a competition to pull out the stick he stuck in the ground.
Almost all residents took part in the competition but no one succeeded in removing the stick other than Baru Klintang.
But who would have thought, after the stick was pulled out of the ground, water suddenly gushed out of the ground in large quantities until it submerged the village of Malwapati which is now the Rawa Pening lake area.
Even though it is only a past story whose truth is uncertain, the above legend is still believed by some people.
They even believe that Baru Klintang is still alive but transformed into a dragon which is said to still inhabit Rawa Pening until now.
In accordance with this belief, rituals of offering offerings are still often held in this lake to this day so as not to cause disaster to local residents.
While regarding the origins of the naming, the name of this swamp actually reflects the condition or state of the lake where the water is very clear.
The word “swamp” means swamp or lake, while the word “dizziness” means clear.
