Cukang Taneuh or people who know him better by the name of Green Canyon is one of the river tourism objects owned by West Java, located in Kertayasa Village, Cijulang District, Ciamis Regency, approximately 31 km from Pangandaran. This location is formed from soil erosion due to the flow of the Cijulang River over millions of years that penetrated the cave with stunning stalactites and stalagmite flanked by two hills with rocks and lush trees. The term Green Canyon itself was born of three foreign travelers who happened to visit the Cukang Taneuh area. Three foreign travelers, according to the story, came to Cukang Taneuh sambal along the Cijulang River accompanied by a tour guide from Pangandaran. Initially, they did not think that in the area hidden natural beauty that is very charming. The clear green water from the river and green moss abound on the cliffside. For their admiration for the beauty of Cukang Taneuh, finally, they named the place the nickname "Green Canyon".
For local residents, Cukang Taneuh means "land bridge". This is because in the valley and ravine of Cukang Taneuh there is a bridge from the land that is used by local farmers to get to their gardens. In the past, the community around the location was believed to be haunted and scary. So, do not be surprised if most people are reluctant to visit the area, maybe only a few people who dare to go there, and even then usually people who hunt snakes and monitor lizards.
To reach this place we have to rent a boat from the Ciseureuh Pier and travel for approximately 30-45 minutes with a distance of about 3 km. Boat ticket rates range from Rp.200,000, can be obtained at the ticket counter at that price, including insurance with a maximum of 5 passengers.
